The Magical Waters of Lake Annecy

21/8/18 – 22/8/18 – Lake Annecy, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region

On arrival at Lake Annecy the heavens opened up so there was no way we were going outside until it stopped. Instead we snuggled up inside, watched everyone else getting drenched and enjoyed our view overlooking the town with our fellow moho-ers! (GPS 45.8928362,6.1267976)

The rain lasted the whole night! Lots of cars came and went throughout the evening and night, so we could see why we’d read a review saying this spot maybe popular for dogging! Quite amusing seeing so its the church carpark.

We did see a few people going in and out of each other’s Moho, and giggled about it perhaps being a moho wife swap spot (not us, thank you very much). Joking aside, this free spot was actually great, we felt safe and it was a 10 minute walk downhill to the historical centre, which is what we did the following morning.

Annecy is a stunning little town with lots of canals and bridges adorned with flowers, and surrounded by cafes, restaurants and delicious looking patisseries. The colour of the water is so amazing, I could just sit and look at it for hours. We walked around the laid back town within about an hour, but you could easily spend a couple of days there.

We visited the famous kissing bridge – we’d read that if you kiss your lover on this bridge your future will be sealed forever. Lots of romantic couples were smooch posing for a photo, and Dan was just about to get away before I planted one on him. Sorry Dan, you’re definitely stuck with me now!

We also strolled along the waterfront and a lovely green space, posed outside the mirrored Truth Hole (camera obscurer) and a huge pink inflatable moving lotus flower before heading to a coffee shop, which was great little place to people watch. The coffee was tasty but more expensive than we were expecting. Thank god we got one of those little biscuits in a wrapper with it, as it made up for it!

We noticed lots of nice looking cafes and restaurants, including a great looking veggie place (photo below) but sadly we’d already eaten and would be leaving before dinner so didn’t get to go on this occasion.

There were many other dogs around Lake Annecy indicating it’s a very dog friendly place. This, as well as the previously mentioned things, totally makes it a worthwhile place to visit. It’s somewhere we would definitely like to come back to.
