2 Days of Not That Much – Conil de la Frontera

20/06/18 – 22/06/18 – Conil de la Frontera

After spending 8 days wild camping and a bit concerned about our Moho leisure battery not charging properly, we headed to the nearest campsite on route, Camping Rosalida. We didn’t get there til late, we were both tired and quite irritable so having to queue for ages to check was a real bummer.

We chose a pitch in the “dog friendly” area which in other words meant segregated from everyone else who didn’t have a dog. The pitches were generous in width but not in length which we is what we need for our beast. It also took a lot of faffing about with the chocks to get level. In the process Dan accidentally scraped the van on the small wall (nothing serious fortunately) but when you’re already irritable!!! We then heard our English neighbour who was obviously drunk by her shouting rather than talking. Her partner ushered us over ‘so our dogs could meet’ keen to interact and give us loads of advice on what we need to do once we get to Portugal. Being immature, we still giggle at her reiterating “you gotta get Vino Verde from Lidl 2 euros a bottle!!!”

I can’t really tell you about the area as we spent 2 days having some down time, charging electrics and doing chores (laundry etc). Again we didn’t use the swimming pool although it looked nice. The campsite was clean and unusually, there was music in the toilets – a nice touch that was appreciated whilst taking a dump! Our surrounding neighbours, were mostly friendly and chatty English retirees. One stated to Dan when he was returning from the campsite shop with beers, “is the shop open then”…bit weird we thought given it’s the only shop for miles and obvious it was open. I suppose its a bit like “nice weather today isn’t it”. Sunday night seemed strange, as from about 10pm til 12pm the children’s entertainment started, which was very loud.

Anyway, battery fully charged, we headed off, but not before facing the massive queue of families in reception also waiting to check out gggrrr! We were happy to be leaving for Cadiz, our next destination.

Having the freedom to do as we please in between using campsites, seems to make returning to them less and less enjoyable. If we didn’t have to, I’m not sure we actually would.
